Performance

“Andrew…You are an ironman” rang out as I ran down the finisher chute – An acknowledgement that the many hours spent swimming alone in the pool, on the bike in the wilderness of Mandai and pounding the pavement along Upper Pierce and East Coast, had paid off.
The journey from a 95kg 5hr 01min Marathon finisher in DEC 2008 to an 85kg, 2h 49m 16s Bintan OD finisher, 12hr 28m 22s IRONMAN WA finisher hasn’t been an easy one, and not even something that many people would even remotely consider let alone really going out and do. Many people thought I was crazy (doesn’t matter that I am) but what they didn’t know about was the help I was getting.
I’d be the first to admit that I could not have done what I have this year without the advice and training programs from RACERS’ TOOLBOX – I would probably still have finished my events, but I wouldn’t have done as well and enjoyed them as much as I did, and would not be looking forward to the next one. Granted, they aren’t miracle workers; they won’t turn you from fat ass couch potato to sub 10hr IM finisher overnight, but if you have realistic expectations, believe in what they preach and follow their training programs you’re very likely to do well in whatever you are targeting.
Thank you RACERS’ TOOLBOX for all the help you’ve given me this year, you guys have been great, I couldn’t have done any of it with your help and will definitely look for your help for future and recommend your services to everyone – I am a believer.

It was only after doing some tests with Racers’ Toolbox that I realized I have been training wrongly all along.
Thanks to you guys, my training is now focused and efficient and suited to my goals, which of course has resulted in better performance.”

“Doing this program has made me a more efficient swimmer. Ben has taught me that training smart reaps more benefits than training hard.”
AUDREY

My name is Patrick, I am 40, a General Manager for a large FMCG American multinational, running operations across Asia. My time is scarce. Here’s my background: I am a reasonably competent runner; I pull sub 17m 5k’s, sub 38m 10 K’s, but then go up to 1.30 for a half and only get to 3.17 in a full, and very flat, marathon. Something was wrong. I was also getting multiple injuries and went into the big races tired and underperformed and took a long time to recover. My physio introduced me to Racers’ Toolbox. What appealed was the scientific approach to training. The programme they would develop was based on my lactate profile, fuel efficiency and race type (distance and profile).

I took the lactate tests. It was clear I had over trained at extremely high heart rates (c90% max.) My lactate shot up at the relatively modest 14.6km.

I wanted to run, no, compete, at the Boston Marathon (a very tough race relatively). We developed a 16-week program. I was struck by:
1) How light it was versus my previous regime
2) Emphasis on strength
3) The focus was time and heart rate, not speed or distance. I enjoyed this altogether more technical approach to my training and having a structured programme.

I ran a pre-race series of sports science tests to see how I was getting on; my second set of tests were just 14 weeks after the first. Facts: My lactate was 30% lower at a 14km/h pace, my AT had increased to nearly 16 km/h (the pace you can maintain for an hour, all out). Moreover, I was actually burning lactate through 13km/h (yes, my lactate was going down versus my base read as we increased running intensity!)

Most importantly, how was my race? I took 21 minutes off my previous year in Boston, in much tougher conditions (a 15 mph head wind,) and clocked a 3.11, that put me in the top 10% of the field! The guys at Racers’ Toolbox predicted a 3.10, I thought they were crazy… Fact is, I finished with a lot left in the tank-I just didn’t think I should run faster earlier in the race, in hindsight, I could have!

Now, they think I have a 2.45 in me for the full marathon, on a flat course, in 2010. I am giving it a serious shot, with Racers’ Toolbox tests, training programmes, more tests and a race strategy. I am also taking on Pilates and injury prevention training.

So, in 14 weeks, I build up 30% less lactate and I’m 21 minutes faster.  Oh, did I mention? The Racers’ Toolbox team are also good guys, knowledgeable about sport, smarter training and making progress much more fun.”

Weight Management

When i first decided to lose my excess baggage which was well over 85 kilograms, i wondered how to accomplish it? I was introduced by by colleague to visit Racers’ Toolbox and complete the Fuel Efficiency™ test. I was curious and had nothing to lose but everything to gain. I went and completed the Fuel Efficiency™ test and was pleasantly surprised by the results. The staff at Racers’ Toolbox were very knowledgeable and helpful. In particular, Jonathan and Ben took time to explain to me the test results. They also provided me valuable advice on how to shed my weight and more importantly maintain the weight loss. By following their valuable advice and guidance, i managed to shed well over 10 kilograms in the space of less than 6 months.

Truly a remarkable achievement for someone like myself – but all this would not be possible without the wonderful advice and support from the extraordinary people at Racers’ Toolbox. Its the only place to visit for effective and sound advice on how to shed away the excess
weight.

Kudos to the team at Racers’ Toolbox – i am truly indebted to you wonderful guys.

“When I first started the programme it was kind of half hearted as I’ve tried many types in the past and they were mediocre in results. However following the tailored programme given by Racers’ Toolbox, in 4 months, I managed to take 5kgs off my weight and now my swim and run has improved in leaps and bounds.

Racers’ Toolbox has helped me correct my running and swim efficiency and all this through a programme that is not just effective but also very manageable and fun for a working adult”.

I highly recommend Racers’ Toolbox to anyone from all spectrum’s of the fitness circuit”.
